Exciting news: Circular Sourcing – a platform to circulate the 10 million kg of Australian surplus fabrics and designer deadstock materials - is here! The Business Pickle is proud to be involved in the working group and supporting a business case for the platform.
❔So, how does it work? The platform allows businesses to sell their fabrics online alongside their current business operations to anyone from micro, small/medium businesses or even home sewers.
📄 A survey conducted by Circular Sourcing last year revealed over 10 million kilograms (conservatively) of so-called deadstock textiles across the country that are unused and destined to be downcycled or become waste.
Courtney Holm, founder of Circular Sourcing and A.BCH, explains: “These materials are on-shore and are of high quality - a lot of them milled locally. Keeping materials in use in their highest use-case is simply the right thing to do. Before designers buy more new fabric, they should see if there’s something that already exists that could serve their purpose”.
Take a look at https://circularsourcing.world/ where there are already 80 fabrics and counting...
