What is the “pickle” your business is in when it comes to making an impact? Is there a thorny topic you want us to explore in our research? Let us know in the comments.

So far, we’ve delved into corporate giving, food waste, packaging, and the gap between intention and impact. Soon, we’ll be sharing our findings on environmental & social responsibility in the fashion industry, plus carbon neutral/net zero and what it means for businesses.

  1. “Share the small changes you are making in your business or share what you don't know yet… not being afraid to have those conversations.” Gill from the Pickle team spoke with Leigh from The Hidden Why podcast, on how businesses can make a start improving their impact.
  2. Decarbonising agriculturewill need a menu of solutions: changes to diets; food waste reduction; improvements in agricultural efficiency; and technologies that make low-carbon food alternatives scalable and affordable,” explains Hannah Ritchie from Our World in Data.
  3. We spoke to Lukas Pünder, CEO and Cofounder of Retraced - a platform that supports fashion and textile companies to digitise & trace their supply chains, efficiently manage their compliance data, and gain full transparency down to the raw materials.
  4. The ozone layer is recovering, according to a report from the UNEP - and the ozone hole should disappear by 2040 for most of the world (later for the Arctic and Antarctica) - as almost 99% of banned ozone depleting substances have been phased out since 1989.
  5. The UN Fashion Alliance reports that around 300 million people work in the fashion industry globally - many of whom are women.
